Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry chartered in April 1989 by Habitat for Humanity International. Habitat welcomes all people to work toward realizing its goal of eliminating sub-standard housing throughout the world. Habitat volunteers build homes with people for whom home ownership would not be possible via conventional financing. By partnering with Stanley Works in New Britain, Habitat Hardware offers Stanley tools at discount prices to the public and specialty items for Stanley employees only. Stanley Works has generously donated overstocked and discontinued hand tool products to Habitat Hardware, where proceeds from the sale of merchandise go back to the Hartford Habitat Affiliate to be used to build new homes.
